Salmon Creek Watershed Council (SCWC) provides a forum for citizens and organizations residing in Clark County to participate and partner for “on the ground” restoration, water quality and advocacy of the Salmon Creek Watershed. The SCWC will act to provide citizens, businesses and governmental agencies the opportunities to leave a lasting legacy of clean water, healthy habitat and environmental stewardship for the benefit of future generations.
Concerned about the health of the watersheds, water quality and fish habitat for the benefit of the people who live here, community members chartered the Council in October, 2006. We registered with the State of Washington as a non profit and received Federal 501c3 Non-Profit provisional designation in June of 2007.
The Council has a board of directors drawn from Clark County citizens, Salmon Creek landowners, businesses and public agencies that have a vested interest in restoring the Salmon Creek Watershed. However, the most important aspect of the council is the its citizen membership consisting of businesses, individuals, families, community service organizations, churches - whoever has an interest in making a difference and making our community a better place to live. The council is led by citizens of the community for the benefit of the community.
The Board of Directors meets on the first Thursday of every month and oversees four committees whose mission is to coordinate efforts and maximize resources by organizing and leading critical organizational and watershed initiatives. Each committee has a director and a set of priorities that reflect the goals and mission of the Council. The Committees include:
The Salmon Creek Watershed Council actively pursues funding from grants, foundations, membership and corporate donations for restoration efforts and operational costs. Our goal is to eventually provide for a full time paid Executive Director who will be dedicated to fulfilling the mission and vision of the Salmon Creek Watershed Council.
The Salmon Creek Watershed Council facilitates coordination and assists in restoration efforts across Federal, State, and local jurisdictions for the benefit of the watershed, fish, wildlife and the community. The council is not a governmental agency - it is a community based service organization founded and operated by the community for the benefit of the citizens of Clark County. We are currently seeking donations (which are tax deductible) and general members and volunteers who want to make a difference in Clark County and leave a legacy of clean water and restored fish habitat to pass on to future generations.
