About SCWC

Salmon Creek Watershed Map

The Salmon Creek Watershed Council is a 503-c non-profit organization focused on engaging the community to teach them of the fragility of the Salmon Creek ecosystem.

We are volunteers here to engage our community to protect the quality of the watershed for the plants, animals, and people who live here.

Our Mission

“To engage and inspire community investments in the Salmon Creek Watershed for the protection and enhancement of its natural resources.”

We exist to provide a forum for citizens and organizations residing in Clark County to participate and partner for on the ground restoration, water quality and advocacy of the Salmon Creek Watershed. The SCWC will act to provide citizens, businesses and governmental agencies the opportunity to leave a lasting legacy of clean water, healthy habitat and environmental stewardship for the benefit of future generations.

We envision a healthy Salmon Creek Watershed that provides a natural sanctuary for people who live, work and play there. Fish and Wildlife will thrive. Salmon, Steelhead, and Sea Run Cutthroat Trout returning to Salmon Creek will find the clean water and exceptional habitat essential for maintaining their heritage. The watershed will be valued as an enduring community asset.

We want to inform the public as to what measures they can take to help preserve this valuable resource for generations to come.

Located in Clark County in Washington State, the Salmon Creek Watershed is one of the 10 most endangered places in the state.

Our History

Concerned about the health of the watersheds, water quality and fish habitat for the benefit of the people who live here, community members chartered the Council in October 2006. We registered with the State of Washington as a nonprofit and received Federal 501c3 Non-Profit provisional designation in June of 2007.

The Council has a board of directors drawn from Clark County citizens, Salmon Creek landowners, businesses and public agencies that have a vested interest in restoring the Salmon Creek Watershed. However, the most important aspect of the council is its citizen membership consisting of businesses, individuals, families, community service organizations, churches – whoever has an interest in making a difference and making our community a better place to live. The council is led by citizens of the community for the benefit of the community.
